Training Day: The Wrap Up
So as people who have been following this blog know I just attended the 10 day Advanced Bodyguard PSD course by Trojan Securities International. I found the experience to be very rewarding. My class was comprised of 13 students from around the world (Holland, Australia, The UK, South Africa…) all with various skills sets. On the student side there was a mix of active contractors along with individuals with law enforcement and/or military backgrounds that wanted to get into the Executive Protection arena.
The instructors were both informative and critical but not unforgiving. The class moves at a brisk pace, and I realized I was going to get my money’s worth when on the first day a heavy rain came while we were outdoors doing drills, and the instructors didn’t bat an eye. Soaked, the rain actually finished before we did. So here are 5 things I learned while attending this course:
-
Australians eat a lot of bananas.
-
Simunition still hurts like hell.
-
Wal-Mart carries pretty much everything you need, or will ever need in the future.
-
From shooting drills to movement formations, practice really does make perfect.
-
No matter how many tours of duty in Iraq you have done, how proficient a shot you are or how many celebrity clients you can boast working with, in the EP field, there is no substitute for quality training.
In the end I’d recommend Trojan to anyone looking to expand their education in the bodyguard industry in a hands-on manner, and plan or working (and training) with them again in the future.
