So the results are in for the first ever Bodyguard Blog/ Facebook “Caption This…”  Contest, and ready there are troubles at the polls:

While there is a clear winner at 7 “likes” out of the 24 entries, said winner just happens to be my brother Akeem, so I’m sure there has to be some fine print somewhere about relatives winning the prize.   To solve this, we’ll just give Akeem honorary mention, and award the prize to the second runner up Mr. Rickey “Swifty” Beever.

Ricky, enjoy the gloves, and we’ll look forward to future comments from you!

"quick get him before he gets to the escalators". ~ Ricky Beever

and for honorary mention

“Now maybe these senior citizen mall walkers will know we mean business!” ~ Akeem Khan

Welcome to the 2011 return of “Caption This” — The weekly feature from Bodyguard Blog that asks readers to supply their own witty comments to humorous photos related to the Executive Protection industry.  This photo is of the brave men and women of the United States Secret Service, and while they have a very important job, even they would have to admit, this picture is worth a thousand words.

With that said, how would you CAPTION THIS? :

2010 – The Year in Review

2010 – The Year in Review

As 2010 winds down I’d like to thank all of the readers and contributors of Bodyguard Blog for their support.  I’ll admit it was a challenge to run my agency, ICON Services Corporation, be an active Operator, and keep the Blog going on a consistent basis.  One of the things that helped, was constantly pulling in fresh content as well as realizing that I didn’t want Bodyguard Blog to be just about ME.

Some of our most popular post in 2010 were the Industry Spotlights, in which we cover professionals in the world of Executive Protection featuring:  The UK’s Shaun West, Old Soldier: Dave Marris, Sexton’s Jerry MacCauley, Mark James & Benjamin Alozie. (Look for more Female Close Protection Agents in 2011!)

In keeping with our philosophy that the Bodyguard Industry is more than just guns and take downs, we enlisted the aid of Protocol & Etiquette Coach Susanne Dancer to provide some lessons in the “soft skills” that would help us more effectively do our job.  You can find her tips on Protocol & Etiquette HERE.

And lastly, we all know that the job of VIP Protection is serious, but the people that do it, are just that –people, and can even crack a smile once in awhile — we introduced the very well received “Caption This” feature.  if you want to take a break from a stressful day and chuckle at humorous photos (and comments) click HERE.

Once again, thanks for  reading.   Big plans for 2011, so stay tuned!

~ Elijah Shaw

The weekly  ”Caption This” feature of Bodyguard Blog continues as we ask readers to supply their own witty comments to humorous industry related photos.  As you can see from this holiday edition, even Santa can’t escape the long arm of the TSA.

With that said, how would you CAPTION THIS:

Here are Indonesian security forces hard at work (and doing what I’m sure is an amazing job).  With that said, this particular picture is begging for a “Caption This

Let’s the puns begin.

Some of you might remember the rather interesting “challenges” I had while taking a client to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup.  Well i’ve been saving this edition of CAPTION THIS for just the right time, as it summed up some (but not all) of the security present during the event.

Independent of that, I find the image itself pretty funny, so try your hand and add your witty caption for this photo in the comments section below.

Iraqi Reality Show Plants Car Bombs on Celebrities

Iraqi Reality Show Plants Car Bombs on Celebrities

File under “S” for stupid.

Move over Punk’d, a new show on Iraq television makes unwitting contestants think they are going to jail after they are pulled over at a security checkpoint and a explosive device is found in their vehicle.

The show “Put Him in [Camp] Bucca” has received numerous protests but continues to air.

Popular public figures are tricked by being invited to the headquarters of  TV station Al Baghdadia to be interviewed, while en route a fake bomb gets planted in their car while they were being searched by Iraqi soldiers — who amazingly are in on the prank.

The unwitting celebrities are then secretly filmed, Candid-Camera-style, as they reacted with shock, disbelief and anger as fake checkpoint guards shout abuses at them: “Why do you want to blow us up?” “You are a terrorist.” “How much did they pay you to do it? You will be executed.”  Quality television indeed.

Click HERE for more on the story.

And just in case you think “how dumb is it that Iraqi soldiers are doing pranks like this in a war where untold lives are being lost“?  Meet a member of the US Military who while on active duty in Iraq, decided to film his own version of Punk’d by planting a explosive device in a car during a traffic checkpoint and filming the drivers reaction.   Nice.  Click HERE for the video.
