So you want to be a Bodyguard?

Be advised just because you are a current or former; 1.) SEAL, 2.) DELTA, 3.) LEO, 4.) Black Belt/Ninja, 5.) Trained Shooter/Sniper, or what ever you are does not mean you are qualified to do THIS job.

Keep the following in mind:

– Just because you can storm a beach does not make you an expert in protective services

– Just because you can kill a terrorist does not mean can prevent your client from being killed

– Just because you can Protect & Serve a community does not me you know how protect a single client

– Just because you can protect yourself does not mean you can protect someone else

– Just because you can shoot someone does not mean you can prevent someone from shooting your clientThe only thing that makes you qualified to do this job is Protective Services “SPECIFIC” training and practical work experience in this field. Don’t get me wrong some of the best operators in this field are from the above mentioned groups (1-5), but not because they are SEALS, DELTA, LEO’s, MA’s etc but because they are SEALS, DELTA, LEO’s, MA’s, etc with Protective Services “Specific” training and experience.  This is from an excellent post by Kirian in the Executive Protection section of the Tactical Forums Anyone actively involved in the bodyguard community would do well to check this site out.

How to Subcribe to a Blog

Everyone kind of assumes anyone reading a Blog knows how to subcribe to one…(I didn’t) so this post might be helpful for some.  RSS feed readers let you follow news and blogs easily, comfortably and efficiently in a dedicated program, on a web site or in your email program.

Subscribing to an RSS feed is easy.

  • Simply hit the subscribe button or look for a little orange XML icon on this or any other favorite news site or blog  This tells your PC to “syndicate this site”.
  • Paste it in your RSS feed reader (News reader)

Some popular news readers are MyYahoo, Bloglines, or Google’s custom home page.   Once its set up, any new updates from blogs or news sites will appear on that page and you have one-stop shopping.

Comedian Arrested at Airport

Comedian Katt Williams was arrested Monday at Los Angeles International Airport for allegedly carrying a stolen concealed weapon.  Security officers found a concealed weapon in his carry-on luggage. One law enforcement source described it as a “cheap, Saturday night special.”  Am I missing something here? How would anyone think that was a good idea?  Guess he wasn’t aware of the type of police presence the have at LAX.

U.S. intelligence unveils spy version of Wikipedia

The U.S. intelligence community on Tuesday unveiled its own secretive version of Wikipedia, saying the popular online encyclopedia format known for its openness is key to the future of American espionage.  Sounds like an excellent format (In theory) to share information between departments.  One potential issue is Wikipedia has a hard time confirming it’s information sources and I can see the same problem occuring here.

Saddam Hussein Sentenced to Death

BAGHDAD — Saddam Hussein, was convicted of committing crimes against humanity in the 1982 killings of 148 people in a Shiite Muslim town. Iraq’s former leader was sentenced to die by hanging.  “The court decides to sentence Saddam Hussein to execution, hanging until death,”  Chief Judge Raouf Abdel-Rahman  said in his summary.  This verdict is sure to continue to divide the people of Iraq, and the reports of an increase in violence are already coming in.  There is also an appeals process in place, so closure still won’t occur any time soon.
